The 28-year-old Police Officer from Barangay Poliwes who tested positive for COVID-19 agreed to be identified in order to help fast track contact tracing and prevent the spread of the Coronavirus disease.

One of the latest COVID-19 cases recorded in Baguio City today, June 18, 2020, is Police Corporal George Pumay-o.

According to the Public Information Office-Baguio (PIO-Baguio), Police Corporal Pumay-o is married and deployed at the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (LTMPS).

He lives at Purok 2, Barangay Poliwes with his family and parents. It was also mentioned that his father works at the City Hall.

Furthermore, it was revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19 after undergoing the real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test recently conducted by the La Trinidad health office for its frontliners.

Pumay-o is one of the LTMPS frontliners who enforce control of barangays on lockdown in the municipality including Betag, Buyagan and Sitio Botiwtiw of Balili.

Travel History
As for his travel history, Pumay-o said that ever since the start of the quarantine, his only movement was to and from his workplace in La Trinidad and residence at Poliwes.

In addition, he mentioned going to an internet service provider to apply for connection with his brother once in the past two weeks.

Baguio City has recorded three new COVID-19 cases today, June 18, 2020.

Previously, only two days ago, the city reported two new cases, one from Barangay San Vicente and the other one from Loakan Road.

Three New COVID-19 Cases in Baguio City as of June 18, 2020

As per the Public Information Office-Baguio, here are the details about the latest cases from three different barangays:

  1. 28-year old male who is a resident of Poliwes Barangay and works as a policeman deployed in La Trinidad, Benguet
  2. 30-year old female from Marville, Irisan who is a service crew
  3. 54-year old female from Lopez Jaena who was declared dead on arrival at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center

In addition, based on the report by the City Health Service Office, the 54-year-old female patient from Lopez Jaena was hypertensive and complained of chest pain before she was taken to the hospital.

Because she had symptoms, she was swab tested as part of the hospital protocol, which resulted positive today.

In view of the new cases, Mayor Benjamin Magalong said that they are now working on contact tracing, quarantine, disinfection and other protocols.
