According to PAGASA, once the LPA progresses into a tropical depression which will be called “Butchoy”, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals may be raised immediately in the initial Severe Weather Bulletin due to its proximity to land.

Areas to be Affected

Furthermore, Weather Specialist Raymond Ordinario explained that it will affect the Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas areas while it might impact Central and Northern Luzon over the weekend based on today’s 3:00 AM forecast.

Heavy Rainfall Until Tomorrow Morning

Affected areas will experience heavy rainfall until tomorrow morning according to the 10 AM forecast caused by the LPA and the prevailing Southwesterly Windflow over Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao. This will bring scattered to widespread heavy rains to the following areas:

  • Metro Manila
  • CALABARZON
  • Bicol Region
  • Northern Palawan
  • Calamian and Cuyo Islands
  • Mindoro Provinces
  • Marinduque
  • Romblon
  • Western Visayas

On the other hand, the rest of Visayas, Palawan, and Central Luzon will experience scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rains.

PAGASA also warns areas that are highly susceptible to flooding and rain-induced landslides which may occur during heavy or prolonged rainfall.

In addition, the agency advises the public and Local Disaster Risk Disaster and Management Offices (LDRRMOs) concerned to continue monitoring for updates regarding the potential development of the LPA.

As for small seacrafts, venturing out to seas are not advisable as moderate to rough seas will be experienced over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon in the next 24 hours.

Forecast for June 12, 2020

As for tomorrow’s weather condition, Ordinario said that the LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains over the Luzon area including Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Bicol Region, and Isabela area while cloudy skies with scattered rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms will prevail over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.
