Here’s why Entry and Exit of Workers in Areas under Lockdown is Prohibited

Today, August 6, 2020, the Public Information Office (PIO) – City of Baguio Facebook page posted the reasons why the entry and exit of workers in Barangays placed on lockdown undergoing contact tracing for 48 hours is prohibited.

Last July 30, 2020, Mayor  Benjamin Magalong signed Memorandum No. 144, series of 2020 or the Lockdown Procedures for Purposes of Contact Tracing.

Why Entry and Exit of Workers is Prohibited

Here are the following reasons stated in the Facebook post of PIO-City of Baguio on why entry and exit of workers in areas in Baguio City under lockdown undergoing contact tracing for 48 hours is prohibited.

  • To limit the movement of people who might have come in contact with the confirmed case and interrupt the transmission of COVID-19.
  • The 48-hour time frame allows contact tracing teams to complete their mission of tracking down all persons who had interaction with COVID-19 positive patients and allowing people including workers to go in and out would defeat the purpose.
  • Within 48 hours and in most cases even less, these are the following steps conducted by the contact tracing teams:
    • Interview the patient and cull information on his/her whereabouts.
    • Identify and classify those he/she had been with.
    • Track and inform the contacts.
    • Facilitate testing isolation and quarantine protocols.
    • Expedite the analytics using the computerized contact tracing tool to identify further links of the patients.

Furthermore, the contact tracing teams can recommend whether to expand or limit the coverage of the lockdown to a certain area and the lifting of lockdown orders will only be done upon the recommendation of the teams after ensuring that all contact tracing activities have been completed.
