US President Donald Trump’s Twitter, Facebook and Instagram Account Locked

Some “scenes of chaos“, as described by US President-Elect Joe Biden, have been seen at the US Capitol as pro-Trump protesters attempted to overturn the presidential election results after Congress was set to confirm the victory of Joe Biden.

Twitter Locks Trumps Account

Due to the violent situation in the Capitol, Twitter has removed some of the tweets made by Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States of America, on his Twitter account, @realDonaldTrump.

Removed Tweets from Trump’s Twitter

On an additional Tweet made by the official account of the Twitter Safety (@TwitterSafety), Twitter also revealed that Trump’s account will also be locked for twelve (12) hours. “This means that the account of @realDonaldTrump will be locked for 12 hours following the removal of these Tweets. If the Tweets are not removed, the account will remain locked,” stated Twitter.

Furthermore, Twitter has also made mention about the possibility of Trump’s account being suspended permanently should he further violate the rules of the platform.

Facebook Blocks Trumps Account

Aside from Twitter, Trump was also blocked in Facebook. This was announced by the platform through a Tweet and on a blogpost published on official newsroom.

Facebook Also Removes a Video of Trump

Facebook disclosed that they have been searching for and removing content involving praise and support of the storming of the US Capitol; calls to bring weapons to locations across the US, including protests; incitement or encouragement of the events at the Capitol; calls for protests; and attempts to restage violence in the coming days.

Thus, they revealed that they have removed the recent video of Trump speaking about the protests. Here’s a statement from Facebook’s VP of Integrity, Guy Rosen.

Instagram Locks Trumps Account

Another well-known platform made the same move as Twitter and Facebook, and it is Instagram. Also on a Tweet, Adam Mosseri, the Head of Instagram, announced that they are locking Trump’s Instagram account.
