Tourism Complex Plan For Baguio Bared

If the conditions are right and all terms are met. Baguio City will breathe new life to the idle Sunshine park. For years, the park has been one of the idle parks that are not frequently visited by tourists, for the simple reason that there is nothing to see at Sunshine park. Of course, if you go to the adjacent Baguio City Museum, that is a different story, because the museum is a building acts like a time capsule for the rich culture and history of Baguio City and the Cordillera region. Good thing the City Government and the University of the Cordilleras found a way to rejuvenate Sunshine park.

The New Tourism Complex

This month, the Department of Tourism and the University of the Cordilleras administration officials bared the plans to turn Sunshine Park and the adjacent areas including the Baguio Museum and the Baguio Chamber of Commerce area spanning about 8,227 sq.m. into a tourism complex. The tourism complex according to the planned design developed by the team at UC College of Engineering and Architecture will showcase a new amphitheater, a central plaza, a promenade area. A water cascade will also be developed where it will also showcase the province logos of the six provinces of the Cordillera region. Fertility symbols will also be built where each will be identified with its origin in the Bontoks, Ifugaos, and Kalingas.

The Tourism Complex Costs

The cost of the project is projected to amount to P800 Million. This will also include already the renovation of the Baguio Museum building and the addition of several features including the Green and sustainable design of the tourism complex. The project is set to be put into action within 2 years time although an official construction start date is yet to be announced.
