Smart, Voyager, Rappler team up for Faster Disaster Communication

With our highly technological society of today, the power to help and reach out to others is not only physical but it has gone digital as well. An African proverb once said that “If you want to go fast go alone if you want to go far, go together. Thus, big tech companies like Smart Communications, Rappler, and Voyager Innovations teamed up to make rescue and relief assistance a text away. This revolutionary project is named Project Agos.

About the Project Agos

Project Agos’ aims to improve the efficiency of emergency communications in the country. The Philippines is, unfortunately, one of the countries that regularly gets strong typhoons and sadly, thousands of people lose their family members and homes each year.  Project Agos supported by Smart Communications and Voyager Innovations, uses SMS messages because it is fast and convenient for Filipinos to use.

How to Use Project Agos

The service is available for Smart, TNT, and Sun subscribers, users only have to send their information using any of the keywords to 2929: RESCUEPH to report rescue assistance; RELIEFPH to request for relief; FINDPH to report missing persons; FLOODPH to report flooded areas; MOVEPH to volunteer for disaster response; and SAFENOW to report that survivors are safe. The first three messages are free and the succeeding messages will be charged Php 2.50.
