Secretary Roque: Cemeteries in the PH Closed from October 29 to November 4

It has already been a tradition for many Filipinos all over the country to visit their departed loved ones in the cemeteries during Undas or All Souls Day, but since this year there is an ongoing pandemic, changes about the celebration of this occasion are expected.

To avoid crowding during All Souls Day, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that cemeteries in the Philippines will be closed from October 29, 2020 to November 4, 2020. When asked about the rationale for this period, he said “…para maiwasan yung pagtitipon tipon na nakagawian na natin tuwing undas…”

“Alam naman natin na ang gustong gusto ng COVID-19 ay ang pagtitipon, yan ang dahilan po kung bakit minabuti ng IATF na ipagbawal muna yung pagpunta sa sementeryo mula lang naman 29th October hanggang 4th November…”

– Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque during a press briefing with Mayor Benjamin Magalong held in Baguio City today (Friday), September 18, 2020

However, Roque added that up to 30% capacity of people can only visit the cemeteries before and after its closure.
