Rare Heavy Snow Covers Greek Capital of Athens

According to Greek Reporter, due to the Winter Storm “Medea”, rare heavy snow has covered Athens, Greece’s capital and largest city, which includes ancient sites in the city on Tuesday, February 16, 2021.  Also, heavy snowfall in Greece’s northern and mountainous region is not uncommon but it is very unusual in Athens.

In a tweet of the This is Athens, official City of Athens visitors’ guide, the site wrote:

“You know what’s even rarer than a quiet #Athens?

A snowy Athens!

Sending warm thoughts (and a couple of #snowballs) your way..”
