PAGASA: Tropical Depression East of Central Luzon May Enter the PAR Tomorrow



At 10:00 AM today (Wednesday), October 28, 2020, the center of Tropical Depression was estimated at 1,960 km East of Central Luzon (Outside PAR).

Based on the latest Tropical Cyclone Advisory issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) at 11:00 AM today, the Tropical Depression east of Central Luzon maintains its strength as it moves slowly west-northwestward.

It has the maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h, but at this time, the Tropical Depression is not affecting the weather over any portion of the country.

Once inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) it will be given the local name “Rolly”.

This broadcast is valid only until the next advisory to be issued by PAGASA at 11:00 AM tomorrow (Thursday), October 29, 2020.

Track and Intensity Outlook

  • The Tropical Depression will move generally westward or west-northwestward towards the eastern boundary of the PAR
  • Then southwestward tomorrow afternoon through Saturday morning
  • It may enter the PAR tomorrow morning or afternoon
  • It will begin to move generally westward by Saturday afternoon while moving towards Bicol Region
  • The Tropical Depression is forecast to intensify into a tropical storm within 24 hours
  • It will continue to intensify while moving over the Philippine Sea and may reach typhoon category prior to landfall
