New Traffic Scheme Imposed in Upper Mabini Street




A revised traffic scheme was adopted along Upper Mabini St. after it has turned into an area of concern due to a series of COVID-19 transmissions. With that, Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong has ordered the new traffic scheme to improve pedestrian and vehicle traffic flow in the said area.

Mayor Magalong said in his statement that they have identified four clusters of COVID-19 cases along the short span of the road.

In addition, the Traffic Enforcement Unit has implemented an improved strategy adopting the Keep Right System and minimum health standards for pedestrians and enhancing the traffic direction and control for plying the route last September 4, 2020. This is according to Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) Director P/Col. Allen Rae Co.

Furthermore,  Mayor Magalong had a meeting with owners of buildings and establishments in the said area and for the safety of their personnel and clients, they are reminded to strictly implement crowd control and COVID-19 prevention measures after it was showed during the inspection the violation of the health and safety protocols in the area. 


Here’s the reminder of Mayor Magalong:

“Please observe all these protocols even if no one is looking, even if there are no police authorities present to remind you. This is our new normal and we have to embrace it so we can learn to live with the virus and move on with our lives.”
