Mindanao Flexes Face Shields made of Bamboo!
Aside from wearing a face mask, the public is now also required to wear face a shield in some settings or areas within the country. Speaking of face shield, there’s a design which is currently making a trend – the Bamboo Face Shield made from Mindanao.
The Bamboo Face Shield
Mindanao Development Authority chief Secretary Emmanuel “Manny” Piñol has said on a Facebook post on Sunday, August 9, 2020, that the Bamboo Face Shields are handmade by members of the Central Mindanao Green Workers Association.
The said face shield was designed by a young Agricultural Engineer, Engr. Junroe Barrios, from M’lang, Cotabato, and is being made in collaboration with local bamboo farmers.
Support the Farmers
Piñol has also made mention that those who are working on the the Bamboo Face Shield all work from their homes and are in need of support to establish a formal manufacturing area complete with necessary equipment such as working tables, stripping equipment and sanitary equipment.
“Let us support this group of farmers so that they could survive through the economic crisis while providing readily available and locally made Face Shields.”
