[UPDATED] Liquor Ban Back In Baguio City

After the temporary liquor ban in Baguio City was lifted last July 4, 2020 through Executive Executive Order No. 106, series of 2020, Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong announced during the flag ceremony today, July 27, 2020, the imposing of Liquor Ban in Baguio City.

Under Executive Order No. 115, series of 2020 ,which was signed by Mayor Magalong today, temporary ban on the sale, distribution and consumption of liquor products in the City of Baguio is effective today, July 27, 2020, until August 9, 2020.

Liquor Ban Back In Baguio City

Here’s the statement of Mayor Magalong why the liquor ban was reimplemented:

“We were able to detect several cases of construction workers because we did 10 percent of construction workers, 10 percent testing of construction workers or total population of the construction workers and we found out that many, some construction workers were tested positive for COVID-19. Unfortunately during the past few days they were in a drinking spree with their fellow construction workers using only one glass. “

Liquor Ban Order

As stated under EO No. 115, series of 2020, sale and distribution of liquor products, such as beer, wine, and other intoxicating beverage products to any person within the jurisdiction of Baguio City is prohibited.

Penalty

  • Closure and confiscation or revocation of Business Permit or License will be ordered for persons, businesses, and establishments that will be found violating the order above.
  • Persons found or caught in public consuming liquor products may be subject to sanctions as provided in the following:
    • Republic Act No. 11332
    • The Revised Penal Code of the Philippines
    • Other applicable laws and ordinances
