Kennon Road Temporarily Closed to Private Vehicles Except for Local Residents

 

Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CRDRRMC) released an advisory informing the public that Kennon Road will be temporarily closed to private vehicles except for local residents effective yesterday, June 25, 2020, until further notice.

Kennon Road Inspection

The temporary closure of Kennon Road was decided after the Inter-Agency Task Group Kennon conducted a Joint Site Geological and Structural Inspection in Kennon Road last June 18,2020.

Part of the site inspection group are Office of Civil Defense – Cordillera Administrative Region (OCD-CAR),  Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB-CAR), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH-CAR), Tuba MPS, and concerned Tuba, Benguet Local Government Units (LGUs).

However, as stated in the advisory, if the weather condition permits, Kennon Road may open to transport basic necessities and COVID-19 response operations for the Cordilleras such as:

• • Medicines
  • Relief goods
  • PPEs
  • Food supplies

Furthermore, trucks exceeding to five (5) tons (gross tonnage) limit are prohibited to pass through Kennon Road.
