DOH-CAR Releases Advisory Regarding the New COVID-19 Cases in CAR

The Department of Health – Cordillera Administrative Region (DOH-CAR) has released an advisory regarding the surge of new COVID-19 cases within the country and in the Cordillera region.

The advisory follows their Daily COVID-19 Update as of 1:00 PM for today, July 25, 2020, wherein eighteen (18) new cases were recorded in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), with 12 from Baguio City, 3 from Benguet, 2 from Mountain Province, and 1 case from Abra.

According to the advisory, projections have been made since April of this year that the cases will peak by July 2020 due to the easing of community quarantines, implementation of expanded risk-based testing, and lifting of travel restrictions where Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs)  and Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs) have been allowed to go back to their hometowns.

DOH-CAR states that six percent (6%) of the newly added cases in the region attribute to LSIs and nine percent (9%) are ROFs, and with the foretold projections, more cases could be expected in the following days.

DOH-CHD-CAR’s OIC-Director Amelita M. Pangilinan assures that the health care system is better equipped now to handle cases. Still, the public is reminded to be more vigilant and stay on the defensive side when battling the disease by adhering to minimum public health standards.
