CEPMO Warns Plant Poachers




The City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) has issued a warning against plant poachers in the city of Baguio.

Here’s the statement posted by Atty. Rhenan Diwas, Assistant CEPMO Officer.

“On plant poaching, picking or cutting of plants within government properties such as parks, watersheds, forest reservations and other public spaces;

Let this be a warning to those poaching, or picking or cutting plants within public places.”

Penalties for Plant Poachers

Those who will be caught will be charged for violation of the City Environment Code (Ordinance No. 18, Series of 2016) and will be subjected to a fine of:

  • PHP 5, 000.00 or imprisonment for a period of not less than five (5) days or both.

The violators will also be subjected to the following if the plant belongs to the endangered or threatened species and will be charged for violation of Republic Act No. 9147 or the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act:

  • The person can face imprisonment from six (6) to twelve (12) years and a fine of PHP 100,000.00 to PHP 1, 000,000.00.
