Casa Vallejo: Unveiling of Historical Marker

Just in case you’ve missed it, just last September 20, 2019, Casa Vallejo, a century-old hotel located at  Upper Session Road, Luneta Hill, Baguio City had the unveiling of their Historical Marker which has been awarded to them by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines. This marker can be seen just by the structure’s facade and could be easily spotted by the hotel guests and passerby.

The program for the unveiling of their historical marker has been attended by some prominent individuals such as Dr. Rene R. Escalante, Chairman of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, Engineer Aloysius Mapalo, the Supervising Tourism Operations Officer – City Government of Baguio, Atty. Perlita L. Chan-Rondez, the Administrator of Casa Vallejo, Hon. Councilor Benny O.Bomogao, Bb. Mitos Benitez Yñiguez, the owner of Hill Station, Ar. Reynaldo S. Lita, the OIC, Executive Director, and more.

The Casa Vallejo Historical Marker

Written on the historical marker is a brief history of the Casa Vallejo Hotel and of course some of the historical events in Baguio that took place which involves the century-old structure. Below is the transcription of the specific details on the marker.

NAGING PANSAMANTALANG KANLUNGAN NG 160 ALEMAN NA DINAKIP NG MGA SUNDALONG AMERIKANO SA LOOK NG MAYNILA, 1923. NAGING PANSAMANTALANG KANLUNGAN NG MGA BANYAGANG TUMAKAS MULA SA HONG KONG AT SHANGHAI PATUNGONG AUSTRALIA SANHI NG BANTANG PANANALAKAY NG MGA HAPON, 1940. Casa Vallejo has indeed received a historical milestone, and according to Ms. Faye, Marketing Supervisor of Casa Vallejo:

“Napaka-importante kasi ng Historical Marker. Ito yung simbolo na talagang authentic tayo at isang daan at sampung taon na tayo bilang isang establishment, so sana sa pamamagitan nito makapag-encourage pa tayong mas maraming Pilipino o dayuhan na pumunta dito at bumisita sa Casa Vallejo.”
