UPDATES ON THE 2 NEW COVID-19 CASES IN BENGUET

PIO-Benguet has published two separate updates regarding the two most recent COVID-19 cases in the province. One of the updates is dated Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 7:20 PM and the other one is posted today, July 8, 2020.

The 27-Year Old Male COVID-19 Patient

Here are the details about the twenty-seven (27)-year old male COVID-19 patient based on the said updates:

  • A resident of the Municipality of Kabayan, Benguet.
  • A vendor who traveled via a truck from Tondo, Manila to Baguio City on July 5, 2020
  • He managed to pass through all checkpoints with a barangay clearance issued in Tondo stating that he has never been classified as a suspect with his Rapid Diagnostic Test negative result
  • He walked from Baguio City to La Trinidad but police officers manning the checkpoint at KM 3 brought him to the Temporary Provincial Quarantine Facility in Wangal
  • He was swabbed at the facility where he has been admitted until his test result came out positive yesterday, July 7, 2020.
  • The patient is asymptomatic and is referred for admission at the Benguet General Hospital

Furthermore, according to PIO-Benguet’s update today, the Provincial Health Office has confirmed that after verification and contact-tracing, the 27-year-old COVID-19 patient from Kabayan has not yet gone home to his municipality.

Thus, the said municipality still remains free from COVID-19 since the patient has no travel history nor any contacts in Kabayan.

However, as of the moment, as stated by PIO-Benguet, the said case is still reflected as Kabayan case in their COVID-19 tracker.
