Banaue Records First COVID-19 Case







Today, July 27, 2020, Mayor Wesley Dulawan announced that the Municipality of Banaue has recorded its first COVID-19 case.

First COVID-19 Case of Banaue

Here are the following details of the first COVID-19 case in Banaue:

  • 26-year-old female who is a Locally Stranded Individual (LSI) from Manila.
  • The first COVID-19 case arrived in the municipality last July 15, 2020 and is undergoing a 14-day quarantine at their facility.
  • The patient developed symptoms on the 8th day of quarantine.
  • She was swabbed and her test result was released today revealing a positive Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) result.
  • The patient is in a stable condition with some loss of smell symptom.

Furthermore, all direct contacts of the patient and the Rural Health Unit (RHU) staff in the quarantine facility will be swabbed for RT-PCR testing. And, contact tracing will begin with the former quarantine roommates of the COVID-19 patient who were earlier discharged.
