Baguio Residents are Now Flattening their Curves

The COVID-19 curve is not the only curve that people need to flatten these days, and the Baguio residents know just what else are in need of flattening.

According to the report of the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) last week, there are already hundreds of health enthusiasts who have secured wellness passes in the hopes of losing the extra pounds they’ve gained during the implementation of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in the city.

This update has been made public by the Public Information Office – City of Baguio today, May 27, 2020.

Baguio Residents, to Shed of Unwanted Curves

To shed off unwanted curves, Three Hundred (300) individuals have requested authority to conduct aerobic exercises at Burnham Park and the Baguio Athletic Bowl. This has been revealed the CEPMO officer-in-charge, Atty. Rhenan Diwas.

On the other hand, there are about Five Hundred (500) granted individuals who opted to do their exercise routines within the city’s road network.

Moreover, there are also already twenty (20) joggers and two (2) Zumba groups seen upon their inspection at Burnham Park, while one or two bikers have been seen along South Drive.

With those numbers, the CEPMO officer-in-charge has concluded that, for now, the number of health enthusiasts utilizing the parks and roads is still manageable.

Atty. Diwas has also revealed that there is online registration available in order to prevent queuing at the CEPMO office in City Hall. This is to ensure social or physical distancing in the prevention of COVID-19 transmission.

Furthermore, according to Diwas, the number of fitness enthusiasts is expected to grow significantly in the coming days.

Allowance of Other Sports Activities

A meeting is still to be held within the week for guidelines for possible allowance of other sports activities in parks. This is to address clamor from certain sports coaches whose sources of income were crippled during the institution of quarantine measures, as stated by the PIO Baguio.
