Baguio Mayor to impose Restriction on Entry from LSTT; Netizens React



Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong yesterday (Thursday), November 19, 2020, signed an Advisory “On Temporary Restricted Access between Baguio City and the Municipalities of La Trinidad, Tuba, Tublay, and Sablan”. This will be implemented beginning November 21, 2020 until December 4, 2020.

“Per agreement with Governor Melchor Diclas and the Local Chief Ececutives of the BLISTT, this agreement will be implemented beginning on 21 November 2020 until 4 December 2020, covering the entry and exit point adjoining La Trinidad, and Tuba, respectively.”

However, as stated in the advisory, this may still be changed, amended, or revoked pursuant to subsequent agreements with the Provincial Government of Benguet, the Local Chief Executives of the BLISTT, or when necessary. Below are more details as provided in the advisory and some reactions given by the netizens.

Who are Allowed to Enter Baguio City During this Period

  • Only those residents of La Trinidad, Sablan, Tuba, and Tublay who are workers of public and private offices or establishments in Baguio, and those with medical appointments or medical emergencies, shall be allowed to enter the City during this period.
  • The same treatment shall be given to residents of Sablan, Tublay, and Tuba, with the addition that they can enter Baguio to access essential goods and services on the designated schedule provided by their respective barangays.

Documents to be Presented in the Checkpoints

For La Trinidad

  1. Valid government-issued ID as proof of residence
  2. Any document as proof of employment or business in Baguio City
  3. Medical Certificate issued by the Provincial Health Office or the Municipal Health Office, stating that the resident is not a possible, probable, or suspect case of the virus, and that he or she did not exhibit flu-like symptoms in the last 5 days

For Sablan, Tublay, Tuba

  1. Valid government-issued ID as proof of residence
  2. Any document as proof of employment or business in Baguio City
  3. Medical Certificate issued by the Provincial Health Office or the Municipal Health Office, stating that the resident is not a possible, probable, or suspect case of the virus, and that he or she did not exhibit flu-like symptoms in the last 5 days. In the case of Tuba, a Medical Certificate may also be secured from the Barangay Health Office
  4. For those coming into the City for essential goods and services, Barangay issued Quarantine Pass shall be presented, along with the medical certificate

Other Things to Take Note Of

  • In case the worker does not have a medical certificate, he or she will be directed to the Baguio City Central Triage Unit for proper health assessment
  • Those who need to enter Baguio for medical procedures, consultations, or appointments, shall present their valid government-issued ID stating their residence, and their Doctor’s Referral slip or confirmation of medical appointment
  • Health workers, member of Contact Tracing Teams, and personnel of the AFP, PNP and BFP shall not be required to present the above-mentioned documents at our designated checkpoints
  • Baguio residents are cautioned to also limit their travels to La Trinidad, Sablan, Tublay, and Tuba, while offices and establishments who have employees and workers residing in these areas are urged to implement work-from-home or alternate work arrangements during this time
