Baguio Eases Restrictions | Liquor Ban to be Lifted | No Pass Required For Entering Malls

The Office of the City Mayor has released an advisory today regarding the easing of restrictions in the City of Baguio starting August 31, 2020.

Easing of Restrictions in the City of Baguio

While the City is still under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ), Mayor Magalong has addressed some of the restrictions that will be eased within the city. According to Mayor Benjamin Magalong, these actions are addressed towards the positive effects of physical activity, the company of friends and family, while learning to live with the unseen enemy, which is the COVID-19 disease.

This virus is new, unseen, unforeseen – which is why there is no clear-cut solution that will make it go away with certainty and finality. For months we have been implementing localized action and response plans, maintaining those practices that are effective, and modifying those that are not. For that, I thank the citizenry for its patience, understanding, and cooperation. But, the battle is not yet over. We must forge on by learning to live with this virus. I understand that one needs food for sustenance, but we cannot count out the positive effects of physical activity, and the company of friends and family. Which is why, once again, we will try to ease up on restrictions within the city.

Suspension of Mall Schedules

Starting Monday, August 31, 2020, mall schedules will be suspended therefore Mall and Market passes are no longer required to enter private commercial establishments. However, entry into the Public Market will be according to the assigned district schedules until further notice.

Lifting of Liquor Ban

Mayor Magalong also announced that the temporary liquor ban that was initially ordered on July 27, 2020 and then extended until August 31, 2020, will be lifted starting Tuesday, September 1, 2020. This is with the reminder from the mayor to drink responsibly and avoid drinking excessively.

“The battle is not yet over”

While the easing of some restrictions has been announced, Mayor Magalong repeatedly reminds all Baguio residents to continue keeping their guards up and practicing minimum public health and safety standards and protocols. He reminds citizens to err on the side of caution and only go out when it is essential.
