Baguio City Veterinary and Agriculture Office Releases Guidelines on Dogs and Public Animal Pound







In the post of Baguio City Veterinary and Agriculture Office Facebook page yesterday, July 28, 2020, they released guidelines for the City Ordinance No. 60, series of 2020 or the Dogs and Public Animal Pound.

City Ordinance No. 60, series of 2020

Here are the following guidelines stated under City Ordinance No. 60, series of 2020:

Registration

  • No person shall own or keep any dog three months of age without first having been registered with the City Veterinary and Agriculture Office or during mass registration organized by the barangay. *All dogs must be surrendered for Microchipping which will be the means of registration in the city.
  • The registration fee shall be Three Hundred Pesos (PHP 300.00) which shall cover the lifespan of the dog.






Public Animal Pound

  • Any dog found outside the premises of the owner shall be considered as stray and shall be seized by any authorized personnel.

Fees and Fines

Impounding Fee

  • PHP 500.00 / dog

Maintenance Fee

  • PHP 50.00 / day / dog

Adoption Fee

  • PHP 500.00 / dog

Disposal of Unclaimed Impounded Dogs

All unclaimed impounded dogs shall be disposed within three (3) working days.

Penalties

  • Dog owners who fail or refuse to have their dog registered shall be punished by a fine of  Two Thousand Pesos ( PHP 2, 000.00).
  • Any person who knowingly and willfully allows the dog to loose in any place outside his/her premises shall be fined of Two Thousand Pesos ( PHP 2,000.00) Ex. Letting the dog defecate, urinate, or any activity outside the owner’s property.

Effectivity

According to the post of the Baguio City Veterinary and Agriculture Office, the ordinance shall take effect on November 1, 2o20.
