Baguio City to Put Up a Multi-Million Isolation Center in Aurora Hill, City Administrator Reveals

The Public Information Office of the City of Baguio bared today (Monday), February 22, 2021, that the city government will be putting up a multi-million isolation center/health center that will serve as a permanent isolation facility even after the pandemic. It is said to be put up in a 300-square meter area within Bayan Park.

City Administrator Engr. Bonifacio dela Pen֮a revealed it was the City Buildings and Architecture Office (CBAO) that identified the area in close coordination with the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO). Dela Pen֮a claimed that the Aurora Hill isolation center will be a three-story structure and said that parking will be one of the important features of the proposed isolation center/health center.

“The funds for the project will come from the P10 Million that was provided to the local government by the health department and the P8 Million earmarked by the barangay for the put up of its health center.”

However, according to the PIO Baguio, the CBAO was ordered by Mayor Benjamin Magalong “to prepare the required plans for a P25 million structure that will be used to source out the funds from concerned government agencies and lawmakers who want to assist the local government…”

The local government was given by the health department until May to use the earmarked funds to put up its permanent isolation center and increase the capacity of its isolation units. This is to cater to the sudden surges in COVID-19 cases.
