Baguio City to Keep its Doors Closed Until NCR, Central Luzon Hampers COVID-19 Spread







The Public Information Office – City of Baguio has revealed today, July 20, 2020, that Mayor Benjamin Magalong has declared last week that the city doors will remain closed until the National Capital Region (NCR), Region III, and Region IV stifles spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). This was after a presentation made regarding the Baguio Visitors Management System (BVMS) by City Tourism Officer Aloysius Mapalo.

Where Baguio Tourists Usually Come From

According to Mayor Magalong, almost forty-five percent (45%) of tourists come from Regions 3, 4, and the country’s capital. This is based on a survey done from September 2018 to April 2019.

As stated in an update provided by the PIO Baguio, most of Baguio City’s visitors hail from the following locations:

  • Region 3
    • Aurora Province
    • Bataan
    • Bulacan
    • Nueva Ecija
    • Pampanga
    • Tarlac
    • Zambales
  • Region 4
    • Calamba in Laguna
    • Cavite
    • Laguna
    • Batangas
    • Rizal
    • Quezon
  • Part of Metro Manila
