Baguio Blooms Extended until April 15

Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong approved the request of the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation, Inc. (BFFI) Chief of Staff Evangeline Payno and Baguio Bloom Exposition and Exhibition Committee Chairman Frederico Alquiros to extend the ongoing Baguio Blooms Exposition and Exhibition at the Baguio Convention Center grounds until April 15, 2020. The event was originally set to end on March 8, 2020. The extension was requested following the postponement of the major highlights of the 25th Panagbenga Festival due to COVID-19.

Number of Landscapers and Exhibitors

According to BFFFI Chief of Staff Payno, during the initial offering of the Baguio Blooms Expositions the last February 1 there are 62 landscapers and exhibitors that originally participated. Due to the reported uncertainty on the schedule of the major highlights of the festival, the Grand Float Parade and Grand Street Dance Parade, and the decision of the request for extension the number of participants dropped to 49.

With the approved extension of the Baguio Blooms, BFFI official informed city legislators that there is a possibility that the remaining exhibitors and landscapers will remain aside and the organizers may be able to convince some of those that backed out to come back for them to be able to recover their investments considering the added promotional activities of the City Government in the Baguio Convention Center to help promote the exhibit area.

The organizers also assured the City Officials of Baguio that there will be no additional charges collected from the exhibitors during the extension. But there will be additional charges on the utilities that could either be absorbed by the foundation or collected from the tenants depending on the appliances being used in their stalls.
