Since Netflix added a different spin to their list, they called it Your 2020 Barkada, wherein you will get to see the most popular titles in the Philippines categorized into different types of barkadas. Barkada, as we know it, means a group of friends; and according to Netflix, the Philippines has made a lot of friends this year.

So are you ready to find out which among the Netflix barkadas – the dreamers, explorers, rebels, survivors, or romantics – you belong to? As Netflix announced, “Here are the most popular titles that got you and your barkada through 2020.”

Start-Up, based on its Netflix description, is a series about young entrepreneurs who are competing for success and love in the world of Korea’s high-tech industry. The stars of this Romantic TV Drama include Bae Suzy, Nam Joo-hyuk, and Kim Seon-ho among others. Its first season was released this year, 2020.

BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky

BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky is about the story behind the meteoric rise of the record-shattering Korean girl band BLACKPINK. The stars of this Documentary Film is no other than BLACKPINK themselves.

Over the Moon

Over the Moon is a heartfelt movie suited for children and family. The film is about Fei Fei, her mother, a journey to the moon, and a mission to prove the existence of a legendary moon goddess. The stars of this 2020 film include Cathy Ang, Phillipa Soo, and Ken Jeong among others.

And Pangarap Kong Holdap is a goofy, Filipino film about a crew of friends that aspires to be known as the best thieves in town. Weathering with You is an anime movie that has romance and drama. The film revolves around a guy named Hodaka and a girl named Hina. The catch is, Hina seems able to manipulate the weather. Starring in this masterpiece are Kotaro Daigo, Nana Mori, and Tsubasa Honda.

The King: Eternal Monarch

The King: Eternal Monarch is a Korean series starring Lee Min-ho, Kim Go-eun, and Woo Do‑hwan. According to Netflix, it is about a modern-day Korean emperor who passes through a mysterious portal and into a parallel world wherein he will encounter a feisty police detective.

Emily in Paris

Also released this 2020, Emily in Paris, starring Lily Collins, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, and Ashley Park; is about the adventurous new life of Chicago marketing exec Emily Cooper after landing her dream job in Paris.

The Hows of Us

The Hows of Us is 2018, Romantic Drama film about a young couple, their house, and their struggles. As Netflix stated, “with one as the breadwinner and the other looking for a big break, can love still live here?” Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, and Darren Espanto are among the stars of this Filipino film.

Through Night and Day

Another Filipino film that’s within this barkada is Through Night and Day. It is 2018, Romantic Drama film about a couple on the cusp of marriage, a trip to Iceland, and an unforeseen test to their relationship. The stars of this film include Alessandra de Rossi, Paolo Contis, and Joey Marquez among others.

Blood of Zeus

Blood of Zeus is an anime series about a commoner living in ancient Greece who discovers that he is a son of Zeus with the purpose to save the world from a demonic army. Starring in this action-packed film are Derek Phillips, Jason O’Mara, and Claudia Christian.
