UP Among the Top 100 Universities in Asia
The University of the Philippines (UP) was among the universities in Asia and the only Philippine university included in the Top 100 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asian University Rankings. UP was placed in 69th rank which is 3 spots higher than its 72nd rank in the 2020 ranking.
This is according to the 2021 QS Asian University Rankings which was released on Wednesday, November 25, 2o2o. And, more than six hundred (600) institutions were featured in this year’s ranking of the Top Asian Universities.
The following are the 11 indicators used to compile the QS Asia University Rankings:
- Academic reputation (30%)
- Employer reputation (20%)
- Faculty/student ratio (10%)
- International research network (10%)
- Citations per paper (10%) and papers per faculty (5%)
- Staff with a PhD (5%)
- Proportion of international faculty (2.5%)
- Proportion of international students (2.5%)
- Proportion of inbound exchange students (2.5%)
- Proportion of outbound exchange students (2.5%)
13 Philippine Universities in the 2021 QS Asian University Rankings
Also, aside from UP, 13 other Philippine universities made it to the list. Here are the following universities:
