Stranded residents, students outside Baguio City not allowed entry during ECQ

In a press briefing today, Mayor Benjamin Magalong said that he cannot allow stranded residents and students in other areas to enter Baguio City for the duration of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

Mayor Magalong explained that this restriction is just part of implementing directives from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) which is to limit movement of people especially those who are coming from areas affected by COVID-19.

On allowing repatriating OFWs to enter Baguio City

“We are prioritizing the OFWs because we were able to set-up the Teachers Camp as isolation area for their quarantine,” Mayor Magalong said.

Previously, the city released guidelines to be followed by returning OFWs who have coordinated with OWWA.

According to the mayor, the city cannot allow entry of those stranded in other provinces due to limited resources and manpower. “This might affect the control measures being implemented by the city,” he added.

As the city continues to implement DILG directives and adopt precautionary measures, the mayor is asking for everyone’s understanding and cooperation in this quest to beat COVID-19.
