September 1 Declared as Non-Working Holiday in Baguio to Celebrate City’s 111th Charter Anniversary




The Republic Act No. 6710 declares September 1 of each year as Baguio Charter Day and a Special Non-working Holiday in the City of Baguio. This is to commemorate the anniversary of Baguio City.

For this year, the first day of September is the 111th charter anniversary of the city and it is set on a Tuesday.

The Public Information Office of the City of Baguio has reminded the public about this upcoming event through a Facebook post published today, August 28, 2020 (Friday).

What else is Up on September 1, 2020

This year there will also be a BAG-IW Fun Facts Quiz as part of the celebration of the city’s charter anniversary. This is to be held online on September 1, 2020 at 1:00 PM. For those who may be interested, below are the rules for participants and the general guidelines for the said quiz as provided by the Baguio Tourism:

Rules for Participants

  1. Must have stable internet (at least 5mbps).
  2. Must be 15-30 years old.
  3. Must belong to the 128 barangays of Baguio City.
  4. Individual participants shall register in the Google Form Link on or before August 31, 2020 (Monday)

General Guidelines

  1. There will be easy, moderate, and difficult questions that will be shared on the screen using the Quizizz.com platform.
  2. The questions are formulated by the Board Members from the different facts, events, and notable persons in the history of Baguio City.
  3. At the end of every round, rationalization will be done where the Quiz Master will read the question, give and explain the answer and for better understanding. Clarifications may be raised with a consultation with the board of judges.
  4. Corrections or clarifications after the contest will not be entertained.
  5. In case of a tie in scores, clincher questions will be given.
  6. Participants must avoid losing connection. Missing 2 questions due to lack of connection disqualifies the participant.
  7. No googling of data. Users must constantly be on-screen and should not mute their microphones or close or obstruct their cameras. Doing so shall lead to the disqualification of the participant.

The BAG-IW Fun Facts Quiz is to be conducted by the Outstanding Students of the Cordillera Administrative Region (OSCAR) Alumni Community Inc., in partnership with The Sangguniang Kabataan Federation and The Local Youth Development Council of Baguio City.
