Rest Easy an Asteroid Will Not Hit Us This November!

Volcanoes erupting, the almost world war and the Pandemic, 2020 is really a year that keeps on “giving”. As if those are not enough, a piece of news circulating online about an asteroid hitting earth by November of this year might really keep us worried.

We did a little digging and found out most of the news is just click baits, because NASA has already announced that while it is true that an asteroid (Asteroid 2018VP1) is heading towards the general vicinity of Earth, there is only a 0.41% chance of hitting our planet. Worst case scenario, just in case we did end up on the receiving end of the asteroid hurtling towards us, the size, according to NASA is just about 6.5 feet and asteroids of this size once it enters the earth’s’ atmosphere it will disintegrate.

Here is the statement of NASA:

NASA is mandated by the US Congress to “patrol” the skies for Asteroids and discoveries are provided to the public through their Asteroid Watch website page.

For now, you can rest easy as Asteroid 2018VP1 poses no threat to earth. Now you can focus on doing the important stuff like taking care of your health.
