“Pulis Mo, Mailman Mo” Project to Minimize Exposure of Atok Students to COVID-19

Police officers in the Municipality of Atok, Benguet can serve as couriers of learning materials for college students in the municipality through a project called the “Pulis Mo, Mailman Mo”, initiated by the Atok Municipal Police Station (MPS).

Atok MPS Chief, P/Maj. Zacarias Dausen explained that they saw the hardships of parents and students in order to get learning materials from the different schools or submit the needed requirements. They come to the Atok Municipal Hall and police station to apply for necessary travel documents and then they travel to Baguio City and La Trinidad.

Thus, according to Dausen, the aim of the project is to minimize exposure of students and their parents to COVID-19 as they undertake a new mode of learning this school year 2020-2021.

How the “Pulis Mo, Mailman Mo” Project Works

  • The schools will drop off the learning modules and other school materials at the Atok MPS in Sayangan, along the Halsema Highway
  • The Community Affairs Development Unit of the MPS will contact the students for them to pick it up at the police station
  • If students come from far-flung areas and cannot pick up their school materials, the police will deliver the school materials as they patrol along with their areas of responsibility.
    • Atok police personnel patrol from Kilometer 28 to Kilometer 58 stretch along the Halsema Highway
