Percy Jackson fans all over the globe, rejoice!

Why exactly? Well, Rick Riordan’s beloved young adult fantasy series, Percy Jackson, is getting another live-action version seven years after its last film has been released. And guess what, this time it’s going to be a Disney Plus series!

This great and exciting news has been announced by the author himself on a video tweet. Watch the video below as the creator of Percy Jackson excitedly spoke about his new project.

Looking back at the previous Percy Jackson Films

Remember watching 20th Century Fox’s film adaptations of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and the Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters in 2010 and 2013? Well, if so, how was the experience?

While some of you might say it was a good one, others might actually think otherwise.

Believe it or not, the author himself, Rick Riordan, was not very satisfied with how the two previous movies have turned out.

In a lengthy blog post published by Riordan in 2018 about the previous live-action films, he expressed what he felt about the outcome.

“As I’ve said many times, once I saw the final script and saw what they were doing on the set, I realized I had to step away for my own peace of mind.”

Nevertheless, the Percy Jackson author seems pretty confident with the new live-action under Disney Plus.

Some of you have even suggested it would be a great series for Disney+. We couldn’t agree more! We can’t say much more at this stage but we are very excited about the idea of a live-action series of the highest quality, following the storyline of the original Percy Jackson five-book series, starting with The Lightning Thief in season one. Rest assured that Becky and I will be involved in person in every aspect of the show. There will be much more news in the future, but for now, we have a lot of work to do!Buckle up, demigods. It’s going to be a fantastic, exciting ride!”
