Palawan: Best Island in the World

Previously, Palawan also won the first spot for the Top Islands in the World in 2017. This year, based on the accumulated votes of the readers of Travel + Leisure, the island got a score of 94.83.

Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said, “Palawan reclaimed its rightful place in the World’s Best Awards. The citation as the Best Island in the World is all the more important because this is voted upon by the readers of the prominent Travel + Leisure (T+L) magazine.”

Last year, it didn’t fail to make it to the top as well, landing in second place next to Sri Lanka.

In the article entitled “Top 25 Islands in the World”, writer Sara Clemence cited a fan’s description of Palawan saying, “The landscape and scenery are just gorgeous. It offers the most beautiful beaches, resorts, and scenery anywhere.”

Furthermore, the Philippine Tourism secretary also said it’s a wonderful thing that the rehabilitation and sustainable development efforts poured into Palawan last year, especially in El Nido and Coron, have been well-received by tourists from everywhere.

Aside from Palawan, another Philippine Island, Boracay, made it to the list of the world’s best islands at No. 14.
