PAGASA: Tropical Depression “Ofel” Likely to Weaken into a LPA

The center of Tropical Depression “Ofel”, based on the Tropical Cyclone Alert issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) at 11:00 AM today (Thursday), October 15, 2020, was estimated at 275 km West of Tanauan City, Batangas at 10:00 AM.

Furthermore, it is reported that the tropical depression will continue to move westward or west-northwestward over the West Philippine Sea today. According to PAGASA, there is also an increasing likelihood that “Ofel” will weaken into a Low Pressure Area within the next 12 to 24 hours over the West Philippine Sea.

Although there is no longer Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal in effect, several areas in our country, including the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), may still experience light to moderate with at times heavy rains due to “Ofel”. Gusty conditions associated with the northeasterly surface wind flow will also be experienced over CAR and as well on other areas in the Philippines.

This broadcast is valid until the next advisory which is to be issued by PAGASA at 11:00 PM today. Stay safe everyone!
