“No Vaccine? No face-to-face classes” says DepEd
No COVID-19 Vaccine, No Face-to-face Classes
In the official statement published today, June 8, 2020, Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones confirmed that the Department of Education (DepEd) will comply with President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive. Thus, until there’s no COVID-19 vaccine available, face-to-face classes shall be postponed.
The Education Secretary said that preparing schools in a different set-up is a challenging task for them but they are committed to their duty that despite the current situation we are in right now, they will make education available and thriving.
“We are updating our policies, realigning our finances, and collaborating with our partners so that our goals of providing quality education and protecting the safety and health of our constituents will be achieved.”

Conduct of Remote Enrollment
Furthermore, Secretary Briones mentioned that DepEd is currently conducting remote enrollment nationwide that will help them assess the household information of learners as this is crucial in determining the learning delivery mode for each locality.
Blended Learning
In addition, she said that groundwork for blended learning already started. Pre-existing methods such as radio, television, online and modular learning are being prepared and updated for this year.
Furthermore, to make the development, acquisition, deployment of learning process, and other necessary steps possible, Secretary Briones said that DepEd is working with the private sector and education experts.
In line with this, as they have committed to Congress, DepEd will provide regular readiness assessment reports to the public.
