Micro and Small Enterprise Owners in Baguio City can Still Apply for Stimulus Package

Last month, Baguio City’s Baguio Revitalization Actions for a Vibrant Economy – Economic Stimulus Package (BRAVE-ESP) was rolled out.

According to City Budget Officer Leticia O. Clemente, among over one hundred (100) applications for financial assistance, only thirty-one (31) had been approved by the Small Business Corporation (SBC).

Clemente stated that they are eyeing some 2,000 micro and small businesses that were heavily affected by the strict implementation of the community quarantine protocols as the initial beneficiaries of the local stimulus package.

The provision of affordable loans to heavily impacted enterprises in the city, as explained by the City Budget Officer, is part of the local government’s plan to gradually allow the local economy to open. This is an effort to balance the health and safety of the people and the need for them to have sustainable sources of livelihood.

She also admitted more businesses that are likely to close if the city will not make any move to gradually open the local economy.

The BRAVE-ESP was supposed to run from the 4th week of June to the 4th week of August or until the allotted funds will be exhausted, but today (Wednesday), August 26, 2020, the Public Information Office of the City of Baguio announced that the application is being extended to cater more.

To interested owners of micro and small enterprises who want to revitalize their heavily impacted businesses, the application forms for the city’s BRAVE-ESP are available at the City Permits and Licensing Office. The application portfolio, on the other hand, shall be submitted to the City Treasury Office in City Hall.
