Mayor Magalong Urges Public to Disinfect Goods Bought from the Market and Groceries
As a safety precaution against the virus, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong has recently advised the public to practice disinfecting all goods they bought from market places, groceries, and even other stores.
“For marketgoers, we strongly advise that they strictly follow health protocols like wearing of masks and shields and observance of physical distancing when going to the market, groceries and stores. Apart from this, we can protect ourselves by making disinfection of the things we buy a habit.”

The said safety measure is necessary, according to Mayor Magalong, in view of the occurrence of cases in different establishments. Below are basic steps to disinfect your goods as provided by the Public Information Office of the City of Baguio today (Tuesday), October 13, 2020.
How to Keep Your Grocery/Market Products Safe
- Prepare a shopping list in advance to limit the time spent buying your needs.
- Wear facemask and face shield before going out of your home.
- Bring your own wipes/disinfectant to wipe down the handles of the shopping cart/basket in groceries.
- Regularly clean/wash reusable shopping bags.
- Practice social distancing while shopping.
- Wash your hands with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds when you return home.
- Wash your hands again after you put away your groceries.
- Wipe down product packaging and allow it to air dry, as an extra precaution.
- Rinse fresh fruits and vegetables under running tap water.
- Regularly clean and sanitize kitchen counters.
