LTO Extends Validity of Student-Driver’s Permit, Driver’s License and Conductor’s License

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has released a memorandum on Monday, January 4, 2021 on the “Extension of Validity of Student-Driver’s Permit (SP), Driver’s License (DL) and Conductor’s License (CL) that are due to expire after the lifting of quarantine restrictions.” The said memorandum was signed by Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante and it shall take effect immediately.

“In the Memorandum dated 17 November 2020, and in line with IATF Resolution No. 79, Series of 2020, dated 15 October 2020, which now only restrict persons below fifteen (15) years old and those who are above sixty-five (65) years old outside their residences we extend the validity of student-driver’s permit (SDP), driver’s license (DL) and conductor’s license (CL) that expired at the time the holder was not allowed outside of residence until 31 December 2020.”

Rules to Be Followed

The rules that are to be followed were also stated in the memorandum. Here are the following rules to take note of as provided by the LTO:

1. The validity of SP or DL/CL whose holders were required to remain in their residences during the quarantine period (from 16 March 2020 to 31 December 2020) shall be extended until 31 March 2021.
2. These rules apply to the persons aged seventeen (17) years old up to twenty (20) years old, and those who are sixty (60) years old and above who were required to remain in their residences during the quarantine period (from 16 March 2020 to 31 December 2020) and whose SP or DL/CL is due to expire after the lifting of restrictions.
