LANG-AY FESTIVAL CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19

To secure the safety of the people against the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), the Provincial Government of Mountain Province announced yesterday the cancellation of the 16th Lang-ay Festival, the annual cultural festival held in Bontoc, Mt. Province.

Who issued the Cancellation?

Mountain Province Provincial Health Board made a resolution last February 20 requesting the Lang-ay Festival Technical Working Group to cancel the 16th Lang-ay Festival as a precautionary measure against COVID-19.

The Lang-ay Festival Technical Working Group issued the cancellation of the festival last February 26, 2020.

Under the resolution, the Local Government Unit’s (LGU) initial assessment on the current resources of the province may not be adequate to address the possible presence of COVID-19 cases. It was also decided and agreed during the Local Health Board meeting that the Local Government Units shall decide for the cancellation of crowd-drawing activities.

Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr said that though Mountain Province remains free COVID-19, there is an urgent need to intensify measures to prevent the spread of the disease in the province and must listen to the advice of the right authorities and lead in the implementation.

Mt. Province Foundation Day will push through

As agreed by the Lang-ay Festival Committee, the celebration of Mountain Province Foundation Day will push through on April 7, 2020.
