Global Coronavirus Death Now More than 1M




According to the AFP tally, counted based on official tolls, as of September 28, 2020, there is now more than one million confirmed coronavirus death recorded worldwide.

In the data provided by AFP, the total number of people who died due to the coronavirus disease is 1,000,009.

Confirmed Cases Worldwide

Based on the latest toll provided by AFP, the total number of confirmed infected individuals around the globe has reached 33,018,777.

Worst Affected Countries

In the AFP Situation Report, the country with the highest death toll is the United States with more than 200,000 deaths. Countries that followed are Brazil, India, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.

Here are the following number of death cases in the worst-affected countries:

  • United States: 204,724 deaths
  • Brazil: 141,741 deaths
  • India: 94,503 deaths
  • Mexico: 76,243 deaths
  • United Kingdom: 41,988 deaths
  • Italy: 35,835 deaths
  • Peru: 32,142 deaths
  • France: 31,727 deaths
  • Spain: 31,232 deaths
  • Iran: 25,589 deaths

According to AFP, “This situation report lists every country that has given official data on deaths. It lets you compare the 10 worst-affected countries and countries of the same region, and shows trends for the last 7 days.” In addition, it is stated in the AFP website that “The methodology for counting deaths vary among countries. Trends are shown by calculating the 7-day rolling average (Day 1-7 and so on), and comparing them.”
