Food Vehicles Limited to 3 Personnel According to DA Secretary

Food Vehicles Limited to 3 Personnel

Three-person Limit

In an update published by the DA Communications Group yesterday, April 22, 2020, on the Department of Agriculture (DA) official portal, it has been emphasized that food vehicles should only have three personnel which only includes the driver and two helpers. This has been reiterated by the Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar since it’s the only number the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-EID) allows for food vehicles carrying either fresh produce or farm inputs.

Putting a limit to the number of people who are involved in the delivery of farm produce is part of the government’s strategy in preventing the spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 or COVID-19.

“Food vehicles, haulers, delivery vans or trucks must only be occupied by a driver and two helpers, in compliance with the precautionary and safety measures imposed by the government in line with the enforcement of the enhanced community quarantine.” – Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar

Food Passes

Also, to follow the still ongoing Luzon-wide ECQ, the Department of Agriculture (DA) issued guidelines and “Food Pass” for food delivery vehicles such as trucks, vans, jeepneys, pick-ups and AUVs/MPV.

“The Food Pass serves as a stamp which allows the smooth mobility of farm produce and other agri-fishery products, including farm inputs and implements, thereby benefiting farmers and consumers alike.”  – Department of Agriculture (DA) Chief

The Department of Agriculture (DA) Chief also added that with the use of Food Passes the consumers will be able to have a steady supply in the markets, while it also lets the farmers earn continuously.

This is for Everyone’s Safety

“We want an unhampered movement of agricultural products to ensure food supply to residents in the metro cities, but we also want to ensure that Filipinos remain healthy.” – Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar
