ECQ Advisory regarding Baguio Public Market

The City Government of Baguio has released a set of policies to be implemented in the Baguio City Public Market, effective March 18, 2020, in line with the Enhanced Community Quarantine declared throughout Luzon.

NEW MARKET HOURS CANCELLED.

Mayor Benjie Magalong announced today that he is deferring the implementation of the new market hours supposedly to take effect tomorrow, March 23 pending further studies.

“We need to further review the scheme and work out better ways to make basic commodities more accessible to the communities thus we are declaring a status quo on the marketing hours at our public market at the moment,” the mayor said.

Market hours shall be reverted back to what was originally announced, which is from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

UPDATE as of March 21, 2020 5:48 PM

In compliance with the order of President Duterte, Mayor Benjie Magalong today, March 21, 2020 set new marketing time in the city limiting it to the following hours effective Monday, March 23, 2020:

From 5 AM to 8 AM; and from 10 AM to 2 PM only

According to the mayor, this new schedule is set “To be not in conflict with the order of the national government, we have to limit the marketing time to such hours. Rest assured that we are finding ways to speed up the establishment of rolling stores in the barangays to bring these amenities closer to people.”

Market Hours

Market hours shall be from 4:00 AM to 5:00 PM ONLY.

Cleaning and closing of stalls: 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Deliveries of basic and regular market goods and commodities shall only be allowed to utilize in allowed unloading/”bagsakan” areas at 4:00 AM and shall be given sufficient time to deliver goods pursuant to guidelines indicated in BCMA Resolution 012-2017.

No Face Masks, No Entry

All vendors, merchants, porters, and market-goers are directed to wear FACE MASKS. No individual shall be allowed to enter and roam the city market without wearing a face mask or any protective covering for the nose and mouth.

Social Distancing

SOCIAL DISTANCING shall be strictly monitored. Activities drawing crowds/gatherings shall be prohibited.

Cleanliness and Disinfection

Continuous maintenance of CLEANLINESS and DISINFECTION in the stalls, alleys, passageways and other areas in the market is continually implemented and monitored.

Personnel of the PNP-BCPO, POSD, and Office of the City Treasurer shall oversee and cause the implementation of these policies. Any individual found to have violated any of the above shall be meted with corresponding penalty/ies and/or disciplinary action.
