Cordillerans Who Waived COVID-19 Aid to Accommodate Needy Families



We are in a tight situation right now due to the pandemic and some are given the opportunity to receive aid from the different programs of the government. And, a lot of people chose to voluntarily give way aid coming from the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to accommodate qualified individuals and families who are more in need of financial assistance.

Here are some of the Cordillerans who chose to give way for their fellowmen.

Baguio City Resident waives SAP Fund 

In a post from the Facebook Account of PNP Baguio Station Ten, Mr. Epifanio Tibalao Jr., a school service driver from SLU-SVP, chose to waive the SAP fund he was about to receive. Tibalao said that the fund must be given to those who are really in need of a financial assistant.

35 Bakun Residents Waive Slots

In the Facebook post of Bakun-MMDRRC, the LGU said that the act of kindness shows that i-Bakun united as one will survive the pandemic, after 35 potential beneficiaries from Gambang, Bakun, Benguet of the SAP voluntarily waived their slots without even doing the validation process and honestly said that they are not qualified with the guidelines set by DSWD. The residents choose to waive their slots so that more qualified families will be accommodated by the program.

More than 30 Beneficiaries from Mt. Province Return Funds

More than 30 individuals from Paracelis, Mt. Province voluntarily give back cash aid they received from the SAP. The returned funds from the honest residents will be given to other qualified beneficiaries and to those who are on the waiting list that is qualified by the DSWD according to the Office of Mayor Marcos Ayangwa.

Despite the pandemic, there is still the Act of Kindness and Giving

We might be in tough times but some people chose to spread positivity by helping others who are not capable. This pandemic is a big challenge to all of us and these people proved that there is more to gain when we help and support each other and we can all heal as one.
