BENECO Releases Modified Payment Option for Bills Falling Due During ECQ & GCQ Periods

The Benguet Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BENECO) has released an advisory on June 8, 2020, clarifying the payment option for electric bills falling due during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and General Community Quarantine periods.

According to BENECO, based on the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) advisory, the payment in six (6) monthly installments only apply to Manila Electric Company (Meralco), Visayan Electric Company (VECO) and First Laguna Electric Cooperative (FLECO) consumers.

Thus, what will apply for BENECO customers and those of the other distribution utilities and electric cooperatives is the four (4) months installment scheme.

However, BENECO decided to extend the grace period both for the payment of bills due in June 2020 and the payment of bills falling due during the ECQ and GCQ periods in order to extend further help to its consumers.

Payment Scheme for BENECO Bills for ECQ/GCQ Periods and for June 2020

Here’s the bills payment scheme as modified by BENECO:

  • For Bills Falling due during ECQ and GCQ Period
    • Instead of June 2020, the first installment for the bills for the ECQ and GCQ periods will be paid in July 2020.
  • For bills supposed to be paid in June 2020
    • The due date will be thirty (30) days from the date of reading instead of ten (10) days.

Furthermore, according to the electric cooperative, its consumers have the option to either:

  • Pay their bills from March to June 2020
  • Pay the current bill and avail of the installment scheme.
