Baguio City Intensifies Temporary Liquor Ban Implementation amidst ECQ
Mayor Magalong has issued Executive Order No. 77, S. 2020 to intensify the implementation of the temporary ban on selling and drinking liquor in Baguio City.
Prevention of the Bad Effects of Liquor
According to the EO, liquor consumption may weaken the immune system and also lower the body’s resistance to microbial infections and other similar diseases. Moreover, intoxication from alcohol can cause impaired personal judgment which may lead to a person violating quarantine rules such as social distancing or avoiding unnecessary social gatherings.
As a result, Mayor Magalong issued EO No. 77, S. 2020 in order to assure that people follow the precautionary measures strictly. And as stated there, the selling the following liquor products are temporarily prohibited in light of the ECQ:
- beer, wine, and other intoxicating beverages
What will happen to the violators of the liquor ban?
The Permits and Licensing Division, Barangay Officials and the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) will be heading the implementation of the temporary ban on liquor products in the city.
Businesses and establishments
Business who will be caught distributing or selling liquor products will be facing sanctions such as:
- closure of business
- revocation of Business Permit/License
Persons caught consuming alcohol
Persons who will be caught in drinking liquor products in public may face:
- confiscation of their Home Quarantine Pass (HQP)
- sanctions provided under Republic Act. No. 11332, the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines and other applicable laws and ordinances
