Baguio Borders Ordered Closed

In a recent announcement by the City Mayor through the Public Information Office, the borders of Baguio City are now closed to non-essential travels and stranded residents. This means that starting today the city will no longer allow entry of those stranded from other provinces except Benguet and non-essential travelers. The ban will take effect today (March 28, 2020) and will last for two weeks.

This order by the Mayor is based on our efforts to curb the spread of the COVID-19 disease. It has been noted that those that are positive for COVID-19 in Baguio City are persons who have a history of travel from affected areas. As of March 27, 2020, the City has not recorded any local transmissions and the closure of the border is to “fast track our healing process“.

The borders of Baguio City will remain OPEN for the entry of cargoes carrying food and other essential items.

The Mayor is asking for the public’s cooperation and understanding.
