Another COVID-19 Patient in Baguio City Discloses Identity

Today, August 11, 2020, another COVID-19 patient in the City of Baguio City has decided to disclose his identity through a post released in the Public Information Office (PIO) – City of Baguio Facebook Page.

The COVID-19 patient’s name is Norberto D. Rodillas, a teacher, who is from Zarate, MRR Queen of Peace, Baguio City.

According to Rodillas, his parents and sibling are also in the hospital due to COVID-19.

In the statement of Rodillas,  he said that he was swabbed twice and his first test resulted in negative. In the second test, his test resulted positive for COVID-19. Also, he added that he already knows that he is positive for COVID-19  because he’s already experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.

Furthermore, according to the PIO – City of Baguio Facebook Page, Rodillas’ older sister contracted the virus while preparing the modules with the other teachers in preparation for the resumption of classes. Then one after the other, the other members of the family have also tested positive.

Sir Norberto D. Rodillas, a teacher who tested positive of COVID-19 bares his soul. Majority of his family tested positive— his only nephew and a six-year old niece was spared. COVID-19 cannot be any more real than this. His family experienced the worst blow anyone could ever imagine—-yet getting sick did not stop him from wanting to save more lives by disclosing his identity.

“Ako si Norberto D. Rodillas na nakatira sa Zarate MRR Queen of Peace, Baguio City. Ako ay guro sa isang pampublikong paaralan ng lungsod ng Baguio. Kami ay pamilya ng mga guro. Ang magulang namin at mga kapatid ay mga guro sa pampublikong paaralan.

Ako ay isang taong nahawaan ng nakakamatay na sakit, ang COVID-19 Noong una halos hindi ko alam ang aking gagawin. Ako ay nalungkot, natakot at halos umiyak. Sa kadahilanang ang aking mga magulang at kapatid ay nasa hospital na dahil sa parehong sakit. Dalawang beses akong nagpaswab test. Noong una masaya akong tumanggap ng resultang “negative.” Ngunit sa pangalawang pagkakataon ito ay naging “positive.” Alam ko nang positive ako dahil may mga sintomas na ako ng sakit. Siguro nahawaan ako sa mga magulang ko, kapatid at ng aming tita.

Ngunit kailangan tanggapin ang lahat. Sa aking isipan kailangan maging matatag ka, tibayan ang loob at huwag ilagay sa isipan ang problema. Kailangan kausapin ang ating Panginoon sa pamamagitan ng taus-pusong pagdarasal dahil siya ang tutulong sa iyo at siya lamang ang makapagbibigay ng kasagutan ng iyong suliranin sa buhay.

Mga magagandang messages ng aking kapwa guro, kaibigan, kumare, kumpare at kamag-anak ang siyang nagbibigay lakas at sigla sa akin habang nasa hospital ako.

Maganda ang ginagawa ng gobyerno ng Baguio City na pinangungunahan ng ating butihing mayor Benjamin Magalong sa paglaban sa nakakahawang sakit na COVID-19. Dapat nating disiplinahin ang sarili at protektahan ng maigi ang katawan sa pagsunod sa tamang paggamit ng face mask, paghuhugas ng kamay na may sabon, paggamit ng alcohol sa kamay at social distancing. Huwag muna tayong magpapasaway dahil kung nahawaan ka ng sakit problema ka ng pamilya at gobyerno ng ating lugar.

Sa aking mga kapwa guro, kaibigan, kamag-anak at kapitbahay na aming nilapitan taus puso kaming humihingi ng paumanhin sa nangyari. Ang ating Panginoon na lamang ang gaganti sa inyong malawak na pag uunawa sa nangyari sa aming pamilya.
