34 Dance Troupes and 30 Floats to join Panagbenga 2020 Grand Parades

Due to Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) scare, the celebration of the 2020 Panagbenga Festival was moved. Last February 12, Baguio Flower Festival Foundation, Inc. (BFFI)  and the city government of Baguio released the new schedule of Panagbenga Festival 2020

Panagbenga Major Parades

Two of the major events that tourists are looking forward to during the Panagbenga Festival every year are the Grand Street Parade and Grand Float Parade. The Grand Street Parade was earlier scheduled on February 29,2020, and was moved on March 28, 2020, while the Grand Float Parade was rescheduled on March 29,2020.

Also, the festival’s Opening Parade which is supposed to be set last February 1, 2020, will push through on March 21, 2020.

Number of Participants

The expected participants for the Grand Street Parade are 34 entries and more or less 30 floats will be showcased during the Grand Float Parade. 

According to the BFFI’s Chief of Staff Evangeline Payno, the participants for the Grand Street Parade are composed of 8 elementary entries, 6 secondary entries, 8 entries for the open category and 14 entries for cultural. Payno also added that the 8 elementary entries who will be joining the Grand Opening Parade on March 21 will automatically perform during the Grand Float Parade as finalists. Thirty percent of their overall rating will be coming from their performance during the opening parade.

Parade Routes of the Grand Parades

According to the newly released schedule, the Grand Street Parade will be from Panagbenga Park to DILG to Session Road to Magsaysay to Harrison Road to Baguio Athletic Bowl. And, the Grand Float Parade will start at DILG to Session Road to Melvin Jones Grandstand and Football Grounds.
